For a few years, we have considered the option of a different version of the very successful, Standard Sliver 29.
With the advent of the Covid Lockdown here in South Africa, we decided that this would be a good opportunity to implement our ideas, and to manufacture the tooling to build the first Sliver 29 Version 2.
The Sliver 29 Version 2 is identical to the standard Sliver 29, in terms of hull shape and design, however the internal layout and saloon area has been changed to suit applications where more weather protection is needed, such as where colder weather conditions can be expected.
The layout of the Sliver 29 Version 2 has the deck, for the seating and the driving position, at the boat’s tunnel height, rather than the elevated deck of the standard Sliver 29.
The seating layout is also different, and the electronics screens are now at the driver’s position, rather than in the roof top.
The changes in layout has also afforded the ability to now access the single bunks through access doors from within the saloon area, while the double bunk and heads (toilet) are still accessible through the access hatches in the forward areas.
The first Sliver 29 Version 2 was launched on 11 June 2021 and has been handed over to the new owner.
Initial sea trials and commissioning proved that this concept was well worth the time and effort, as it has proven to be a very comfortable boat with excellent shelter for poor conditions.
